Professor Maja Seršić
The Croatian national group of the Permanent Court of Arbitration nominated Professor Maja Seršić as a candidate for election to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for the period 2021-2030, at the elections to be held during the 75th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations.
The Government of the Republic of Croatia firmly supports the candidature of Professor Seršić. Her high reputation as an eminent academic of high moral character, impartiality and integrity has been recognized in professional and public life in the Republic of Croatia and abroad. Professor Maja Seršić is a distinguished professor of Public International Law at the University of Zagreb and Vice-Dean for International Cooperation. She has published numerous scientific papers and books in the field of international law.
In light of the central role of the International Court of Justice in promoting the global rule of law, the Croatian Government is confident that Professor Seršić’s professional qualities, expertise and experience would greatly contribute to the work of the Court, while ensuring fair participation of various States and a greater gender balance in the composition of the world’s highest judicial body.
